Delhi has come back in to the hands of swabhimani (proud) Hindus after 800 years, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal said at the world Hindu conference on Friday.
“800 years after the rule at Delhi went away from Prithviraj Chauhan, it did not come into the hands of proud Hindus. It has happened after 800 years,” Singhal, referring to the victory of the Narendra Modi led BJP in the 2014 lok Sabha elections, said at the inaugural session of the conference.
The VHP, he said was formed in 1964 to rally together fearless Hindus from around the world.
Speaking on the German/Sanskrit controversy, the VHP leader said the classical language should be made compulsory in every school across the country. “There will be many more things made compulsory. This is language of our country. Everything was written in Sanskrit thousands of years ago. If you want to eliminate it, you want to eliminate this country,” he said.
The three day conference has been organized by the World Hindu Foundation and intends to provide platform for Hindu society across the globe to discuss and arrive at solution to various challenges faced by them.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said the Hindu tradition has always shown the way to the world and it will continue doing the same.
“Hindus should rise in unison and show leadership based on values to the world,” he said.
Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said there was a need to develop “knowledge of mind” and to remember “sameness of humanity”.
