Celebrated South African cricketer Keshav Maharaj has conveyed his wishes and support for the upcoming World Hindu Congress (WHC) 2023, scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from November 24 to 26.

Themed ‘Jayasya Aayatnam Dharmah’ (Dharma, the Abode of Victory), this three-day global event brings together Hindus from diverse backgrounds and nations to celebrate the rich values, creativity, and contributions of the global Hindu community across various fields.

In a video message addressed to the WHC 2023 organisers, Maharaj said: “Namaste everyone! I would like to extend my best wishes for the World Hindu Congress happening in Bangkok. Unfortunately, I can’t be there due to World Cup commitments. But I wish you all the best. Hope it’s an amazing event. Jai Sri Ram.”

Currently participating in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, Maharaj is a pivotal member of the South African team, which has successfully qualified for the semi-finals.

Renowned for his left-arm orthodox spin bowling, Maharaj’s notable contributions to the Proteas’ World Cup campaign include hitting the winning four runs in a tense match against Pakistan in Chennai on October 27.

His family’s roots can be traced back to Uttar Pradesh, and his father Athmanand Maharaj describes him as a family-oriented man with a strong religious focus, actively supporting charity groups and indigent children.

The WHC 2023 comprises of seven parallel conferences, including the Hindu Youth Conference, conducted by the Hindu Students and Youth Network. This youth-centric conference aims to empower young Hindu leaders and change-makers brining positive change in their respective spheres.

Commenting on the significance of young Hindu leaders, Murali Krishna Magesan, coordinator of the Hindu Youth Conference, stated: “The rejuvenation and revitalization of Hindu Dharma throughout the world rest on the shoulders of young Hindus. This conference will provide them an opportunity to foster synchronized action and work towards Hindu resurgence cohesively… Keshav Maharaj is a terrific role model for youth. We appreciate his message of support and look forward to welcoming him to future events.”

Covering vital areas such as Hindu identity, economy, education, media, politics, and human rights, the Hindu Youth Conference will bring together young entrepreneurs, visionary politicians, talented filmmakers, human rights researchers, and representatives from various Hindu student and youth organisations. The sessions will address pressing issues and opportunities for the next generation of Hindu leaders.

The WHC 2023 offers a unique platform for young leaders to connect with accomplished and influential Hindus from over 50 countries, providing networking, learning, and contribution opportunities to a thriving global community.

The conference will also facilitate global mentorship and internship programs, offering a platform for young entrepreneurs to pitch their startup ideas to the World Hindu Economic Forum.

Expected participants at the Hindu Youth Conference include representatives from organizations such as Hindu Youth New Zealand, Hindu Youth Australia, Hindu Youth Malaysia, Hindu Students Council (USA), National Hindu Students Forum (UK), and many more.
